Original salmon cloth backed in white cloth on boards. Top edges gilt. This poet was born on the south coast of Ireland, but at the age of nine moved with her family to Quincy, Massachusetts, where her father established a marble works. She wrote a number of articles as a teenager. Following school she married a doctor in 1865, and together they had 11 children. A book, Poems, appeared in 1882, followed by On the Wing, Rambling Talks, and Mexico, and A Summer Holiday in Europe, both co-written by Margaret F. Sullivan of Chicago. 164 pp., partly unpaginated. Cover lightly hand-soiled, but clean inside.
