No writing and the mildest of soil and wear make this an exceptional find. Five illustrations in colour by Harold Sichel (1881-1948), who studied at the Mark Hopkins Institute under Arthur Mathews in San Francisco. Black-and-white illustrations across head and foot of every page. The story may have originated in native culture as an explanation of human duality, but one writer credits Burnett with making up the story to keep her boys quiet while she brushed her hair. 125 pp. Price: 20.00 USD
