The saving grace of this worn and torn ex-library copy is the fact that it has 50 Tenniel drawings. On the verso of the half title is a list of characters titled "Dramatis Personae". with the following recto displaying a chess board, below which is a chart of sequential moves correlated with page numbers. High school library stamp on title, with evidence of card envelope and due date list removal. Previous owner's name and date (1880). Both hinges neatly book-taped. Cover corners worn.
