Original maroon ribbed cloth on boards. Intricate spine gilding. Believed 1850 since Gihon is cited as engraver on wood of that time and place, and J./J.L. Gihon were prominent publishers on Chestnut Street at the time. No other cloth bindings found. General age-darkening and sprinkled foxing, ow sound and easily readable. Very light pencilling of previous owner's name and date of 1850. Possible author Miss Grierson cited from another edition. Three early missionaries to India. 298 pp.
