This poet was born and brought up in Edinburgh, from which the family moved to America when he was thirteen. At Sheboygan, WI, they sought a farm at Waupun. Setting out for Waupun, they inquired of a local as to the condition of the roads. He told them there was only one mudhole, but it went all the way ! After sporadic schooling when farm work was slow, David took a short turn at teaching. At 20, he went to Buffalo, where he became widely known, eventually having a Chair of Poetry at SUNY named for him. Minor corner and edge wear, but sound. 351 pp.
