Original dark blue cloth on boards. One trifold map showing railways and canals of Eastern Canada bound in. Four additional maps. Laid in is a typed, single-spaced manuscript of 8 pages, presumably used as an address at a meeting of forestry officials. The text of the laid-in speech identifies the writer as the Assistant Timber Controller of the Maritimes from 1940-1946, and the date is Nov., 1946. The text of the speech credits Canada Veneers Ltd. of Saint John, N.B., as the largest manufacturer of hardwood veneers in the world in 1943 and 1944. This is a critically-important book in the history of Canada-U.S. relations with respect to the lumbering industry. No names or damage to the book. Minor chipping of the DJ head and foot prompted me to tape it inside to prevent further damage. 377 pp. with index.
