Original green cloth on boards. First free endpaper tanned, probably from news clipping. No writing and no other damage. In four parts: The Cuckoo is Not Enclosed, Forty-Five, The Wild Marriage, and The Bright Turrets of Ilion. Perhaps you haven't yet discovered Hugh Walpole. He was very big in the early 1900'suntil Somerset Maugham wrote Cakes and Ale, in which the character, Alroy Kear, is seen by readers to be based on Walpole in a very uncomplimentary manner. Rogue Herries is set in Cumberland in the 18th Century. John Buchan called it the finest English novel since Jude the Obscure. Research it on the net and I think you'll want to read it. 736 pp. plus a foldout family tree . Heavy book will need extra postage.
