Grey-green cloth showing lance, hatchet, bow, quiver, and shield in colour on boards. No date, but prior to move to Springfield, MA, in 1920. First free endpaper missing. Colour frontispiece shows Wolf Ear, the Ogalalla, with little Edith. Many more illustrations by Comstock. The story is set in South Dakota about 1890, when relations between natives and the white settlers were still uneasy. Brinton Kingsland, age 17, had met Wolf Ear earlier, but their friendship was strained by relations between the larger groups. Text browning. One tiny edge tear to frontispiece. No writing. 119 pp. Since this book is on consignment, the 20% discount to booksellers is void.
