Large format with illustrated soft cover. Introduction by A.G. Bailey, Ph.D. The title is misleading in that the formal articles are limited to events very close in time to Champlain's visit in 1604, no report being included of events beyond the 17th Century. However, those articles are valuable in that they present material seldom cited in hardbound histories of the region. As such they are a welcome addition to the excellent histories by Hannay, MacNutt, Raymond, and others. Among advertisements by local businesses, those by Canada Permanent Mortgage Corporation, Red Ball Brewery, Port of Saint John, and Telegraph-Journal, are to be commended for including historical detail of interest to the public as well as their business name and location. Sadly, the article by Roger Goguen. Jalons Religieux en Acadie, appears in French only. Approx. 26 pp. of historical material, the balance of the 80 pp. consisting of ads.
