Original dark green cloth with attractive vertical striped pattern on front cover and gilt lettering on cover and spine. Diagonal mark across corner of front cover from being forced backward (3-inch abrasion to endpaper inside front cover). Small round spot under title on cover where gilding and dark green area have been worn. Previous owner's name on free front endpaper. The 1914 copyright for this book was held by Luther H. Cary. The five stories it contains were originally printed in the Woman's Home Companion. There are two black and white engravings by W.T. Benda. Unfortunately, the frontispiece is missing. 154 pages.
