Original bright red cloth on boards. A few tiny edge tears in DJ. Reginald Pole (1500-1558) could have been Pope, and might have been King. As a Cardinal he moved among the high and mighty. As a mover and shaker he was often threatened with assassination, for he was always in the middle between Church and State. After reading an internet biography I wondered how the playwright could compress the story into 78 pp. of a small book. Perhaps his greatest achievement was the fact that he died a natural death !
